Sample Map Viewer for Java Developers Lab

Employ mapping functionality in your browser using the Sample Map Viewer for Java Developers, available as a Java applet or Web Start application. Java 5 or newer is required.

Included with the sample map viewer is a documented API, which allows for extensive customization of functionality and the user interface.

  • Geocode and route with the ArcWeb Services SOAP API.
  • Pan and zoom continuously.
  • Display SVG vector data types.
  • Display tiled imagery.
  • Toggle seamlessly between map types including satellite, topographic, and street maps.
  • Choose from a set of coordinate systems.
  • Deploy the map viewer as either a Java Web Start application (outside the end user's browser window) or an applet (within browser window).

NOTE: Log in with your ArcWeb Services account user name and password. The first time you sign in to the Sample Map Viewer for Java Developers Lab, you need to review and accept a Labs license agreement and fill out a short registration form; you will then be redirected to the Labs page. From then on, you can access Labs directly by logging in to the ArcWeb site (or by clicking the Log in button on the Labs page).
