Sprint

Sprint is a global communications company and an integrator of long-distance, local service, and wireless communications. Founded in 1899 as the Brown Telephone Company, Sprint provides local telephone services to approximately 7.9 million customers in 18 states and long-distance services throughout the United States. Sprint is the United States' third largest provider of long-distance services. The firm’s wireless personal communication services (PCS), together with third-party affiliates, operate in more than 300 metropolitan markets. In the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, 247 million people are covered by Sprint PCS mobile service. Recently, Sprint has been aggressively increasing its wireless customer base through mergers and acquisitions. The company recently acquired U.S. Unwired and merged with Nextel Communications.

The Sprint Mobile Business Applications CDMA, available through ArcWeb Services, is a suite of wireless Web services that provides real-time, high-availability device status, messaging services, and location services for wireless phones on the all-digital Sprint PCS nationwide U.S. network. The service helps registered users determine the precise geographic location of any wireless device for geocoding purposes while also enabling users to send text messages over the Internet to those within the network. This service is especially useful for fleet management. Companies that are experiencing difficulties routing and monitoring drivers and communicating with employees and customers will benefit from this service, which is provided exclusively in the United States.
