NAVTEQ, founded in 1985, is a provider of digital map data for navigation systems and location-based solutions. With headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, NAVTEQ has built a map database of the highest quality and precision, employing one of the industry's most comprehensive development and quality control programs, executed by an extensive team of more than 500 field researchers. NAVTEQ™ maps span 50 countries and territories on four continents. From turn restrictions to relative road crossing heights, every road segment captured in the NAVTEQ database has up to 160 data attributes, such as access restrictions, one-way streets, and speed categories, that help optimize navigation. In addition, the NAVTEQ database includes points of interest in approximately 50 categories in North America and approximately 40 in Europe.

NAVTEQ supplies ArcWeb Services users with detailed street and attribute layers for the United States that will support a variety of online mapping applications, such as spatial queries and geocoding, with a detailed basemap. ArcWeb Services users also have access to NAVTEQ’s North American Route Finder, which is an online multipoint routing system for the United States and Canada. This NAVTEQ data has proven particularly useful for express mail services, emergency and government routing plans, efficient field service management, and fleet operations.
